Belkin has announced an update to their Thunderstorm Handheld Home Theater speaker dock that is compatible with the iPad 4. The dock connects through an integrated Lightning connector, and is supposed to enhance the audio of the iPad. The new new dock features an updated design as well as new audio modes, according to Belkin:
The new Thunderstorm features an updated chassis that integrates a new Sound Mode button allowing users to cycle between four different sound mode options?music, moving, gaming and conference call?to best match the content on their tablet. The new conference call mode enhances voice frequencies when using Skype's VoIP calling service. Previously only available through the Thunderstorm app, the Sound Mode button features an audible voiceover that informs users of the sound mode setting.
The Thunderstorm can be controlled from the companion Belkin Thunder app, available free on the App Store. Belkin has partnered with Hulu to give a free month of Hulu Plus to Thunderstorm buyers, though you must be a new subscriber to take advantage of the offer. The new Thunderstorm is available starting today for $199 from the Belkin online store.
