Jake Motes beats his age by two strokes in Leisure Town men's golf club

Jack Motes beat his age by two strokes with a solid 12-over-par gross score of 81, firing a blistering net round of 61 to lead Leisure Town men's club golfers at Green Tree on Wednesday.

Motes won the first flight, with Jerry Horan (66) second and Andy Wedaman (67) third.

Second-flight leaders were Frank Vigil (67), Ralph Hamilton (67) and Tony Baldo (69).

Green Tree tournament

Tony Pirondini's net 63 was the best score of the day during recent Green Tree tournament club action.

Pirondini edged Dan Powell (64) for first place. Dan Musick (65) and Sergio Nogales (65) tied for third, and John Foster (66) finished fifth.

Green Tree Niners

Alma Schultz and Diana Choate both carded net rounds of 24 to lead Green Tree Niners club members in recent sweeps play.

Schultz edged Marge Tye (25) for the first-flight title. Jacque Welch (31), Kitty Lockwood (31) and Helen Riggert (31) all tied for third.

Choate took the second flight over Nancy Schlesinger (28), Marilyn Royse (28) and Marilyn Weaver (29).

Rosemary Baldo (25) captured the third flight, with Dorothy Stoudt (28) second, Shirley Helmich (29) third and Helen Williams (30) fourth.

In the fourth flight, Margaret Brick (27) tipped Teri Denton (28), Lorraine Bessemer (28) and Maria Herring (28).

Women in Paradise

Jean Putman, Marie Dorish and Margie Miller teamed up for a net 126 to win a two-best-balls event hosted by the Paradise Valley women's club recently.

Finishing just one stroke back was the team of Pla Lee, Sue Annala, Jeanne Mackie and Rita May (127).

Twice Around club

Bea Vigil fired a net round of 25 as the Twice Around club went around the executive course at Green Tree just once recently.

First-flight leaders were Karla Brown (28.5), Liz Dykstra (29.5) and Mary Joe Mudgett (30.5).

Nancy Garver (28) took the second flight easily over Sue Watkins (32).

Vigil won the third flight, with Carol Babington (28.5) second.

Cypress Lakes women

Rosemary Sampson fired a solid net 68 to pace Cypress Lakes women's club members in recent action. She won the first flight by six shots over Jean Putman (74).

In the second flight, Joyce Rohrer (74) finished in front of Sandy Kreger (76).
