Sweetwater football coach charged with DUI

(WBIR-Sweetwater, Tn) The Sweetwater High School football coach has voluntarily stepped aside, after he was charged with a DUI earlier this week.

According to a Loudon Police Department arrest report, Craig Franklin Moser was arrested just after midnight on Monday.? The officer said he saw Moser get out of the driver side of a white Dodge pickup truck that was parked at a gas station on Highway 72 in Loudon.? He said Moser "had a strong odor of an intoxicant about his person" and "red watery eyes."

He said he asked Moser if he had been drinking, and he said no.? Moser refused a field sobriety test.? After he was taken to the jail, Moser would not consent to tests to determine his blood alcohol content.

Moser was charged with 1st offense DUI and violation of implied consent.

Sweetwater High principal David Watts said school officials are aware of the arrest.? He said Moser voluntarily stepped aside as football coach while the legal process plays out.??He will continue to teach because there is no policy in place to prevent that.

Assistant Coach Mike Martin has been named interim football coach.
