nazareth ? Melissa Banks and MacKenzie Strunk won in three sets at third doubles as East Stroudsburg South remained unbeaten with a 4-3 victory over Nazareth in non-conference girls tennis Saturday.

east stroudsburg ? Hanna Bergen had 11 digs, 10 kills and eight blocks, and Cy Lippold had 24 assists, but East Stroudsburg South lost 3-2 to Dieruff in non-conference girls volleyball Saturday.

College field hockey Shippensburg 3, ESU 1

EAST STROUDSBURG ? Emily Kohlbus scored her first two goals of the season in the first half as No. 1-ranked Shippensburg survived No. 10 East Stroudsburg University's upset bid for a 3-1 win in non-conference play Saturday.

Neither team led by more than a goal until the final two minutes when Lauren Taylor gave Shippensburg its final 3-1 cushion with the only goal of the second half. The Lady Raiders (7-0) held a 14-2 advantage in shots in the second half after holding a slim 8-7 edge in the opening half.

Kohlbus opened the scoring for Shippensburg 13 minutes into the game but the Warriors answered right back, as sophomore forward Jessica Lawville scored her seventh goal of the season just two minutes after Ship went in front.

Kohlbus scored again four minutes later, giving Shippensburg a 2-1 lead 20 minutes into the game that they would take into halftime.

Freshman Alexis Charles started in goal for ESU and made two saves before being relieved by senior Sarah Dobroskey, who played the final 44 minutes and made nine saves. Careena Neely had six saves for Shippensburg.


Men's soccer Gannon 3, ESU 1

EAST STROUDSBURG ? Robbie Bennett scored two goals and assisted on the third, all in the first 15 minutes of the second half, as No. 9-ranked Gannon rallied from one goal and one man down for a 3-1 win over East Stroudsburg University on Saturday.

The Golden Knights (6-0, 2-0 PSAC), playing with 10 men due to a red card in the 33rd minute, tied it on Bennett's goal 1:46 into the second half and took the lead 41 seconds later when Bennett set up Alex Perri.

Bennett added Gannon's third goal in the 60th minute on an assist from Perri as they rallied from a second-half deficit for the second straight day.

ESU (1-5, 0-2) jumped on the Golden Knights early when senior midfielder Nick Fischer broke free and deposited a pass from sophomore midfielder Denis Loboda for a 1-0 lead 2:45 into the contest.


Women's soccer ESU 3, Gannon 2

EAST STROUDSBURG ? Freshman forward Sammi Jo Hughes scored two goals and sophomore forward Courtney Keller had a goal and an assist as East Stroudsburg University remained unbeaten, ending Gannon's unbeaten and unscored upon start in the process, with a 3-2 victory in PSAC play Saturday.

Hughes scored 1:34 into the game, assisted by Keller, to end Gannon's scoreless streak at 459:31 in its five straight victories to open the season. She added her second goal of the game, and third of the season, in the 17th minute before Gannon (5-1, 2-1) pulled within 2-1 at halftime on Kaitlyn Kissell's goal 2:03 before the break.

Keller scored 15 minutes into the second half, her second goal in as many days, assisted by junior forward Kerri McClay to give the Warriors another two-goal cushion. Gannon cut it to 3-2 when Sammy Valloud scored just over three minutes later.

Junior goalkeeper Brittain Wagner made eight saves for the Warriors, who were outshot 19-16 on the afternoon. Sarah Geffel had two saves for Gannon.

ESU (3-0-2, 2-0-1) is unbeaten through five games for the fifth time in school history ? 1992, 1994, 1995, 1999 and now 2012.


Women's volleyball ESU 3, Glenville St. 1

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.V. ? Senior outside hitter Kaitlin Behrens had a career-high 21 kills to lead East Stroudsburg University to a 3-1 win over Glenville State on Friday in non-conference action at Shepherd University.

Behrens's 21 kills came on 41 attacks as she hit .366 to pace an ESU offense that hit .225 for the match. She also added four aces and six digs. Behrens is the first Warrior with 20 kills in a match since Alyson Stark had 20 vs. Kutztown in 2007.


Golf Hole in one

A Hole in One was scored by Jane Doyle aced the fourth hole on Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort's White course Saturday. The ace was witnessed by Betsy Cuneo, Irene Picano, Eva Haddon and Robin Wolfe.
