The world's largest specialist solar power event

Where? Frankfurt, Germany: Congress Center on the Messe Fairground.

When? 24 28 September, 2012.

Why? An annual meeting focussing on demonstrable science, policy and industry trends, benefiting in its 2012 edition from an all-time record of 1,843 abstracts received from 74 countries, 337 keynote addresses juried in, over 4,000 conference delegates including representatives of 1,460 organisations, 670 exhibitors registered and 30,000 visitors expected.

Who? A never before assembled group of global investors and decision-makers from industry, research, finance and politics: electricity business leaders, innovators, analysts, senior national, European and international policy-makers, regulators, stakeholders from A-Z scientific organisations and renewable energy groups, and talking-heads from internationally renowned research facilities.

The 27th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition

Hosting this event of global significance in Frankfurt, the financial capital of Germany, is quite symbolic for where photovoltaic (PV) technology stands at the present time: unprecedented market growth and cost reductions, fierce competition and consolidation within the industry, sustainability issues and economic crisis just a few keywords which will characterise the PV environment, interactions and stakeholder debate in Frankfurt later this month.

All agree that PV's growth will require a paradigm shift in the way electricity is produced, sold, transported and distributed. This event will capture the pulse of at what rate this is happening. Anchored by a record number of abstracts received, the strength and depth of the conference programme testifies to a particularly strong participation from in and outside Europe. Building on previous successes, this conference is seen by both international research and industry as the world's leading science-to-science, business-to-business and science-to-industry PV forum. It offers access to a never before assembled group of global investors and decision-makers from industry, research, finance and politics.

What can journalists expect?

This event will have something for every journalist: whether you are an energy newcomer or specialist, focussing on basic research or the manufacturing industry, from finance or the electricity business, following global policy-making trends or simply wishing to discover somebody's personal journey. 337 keynote and plenary addresses and more than 1300 visual presentations, numerous parallel events, a large industry exhibition and many social gatherings will be open to you during this melting pot conference. In addition, a tailored press briefings and networking events programme will be organised for your benefit. A dedicated media center is also provided.

A taste of the issues at stake

Participating press will have the opportunity to investigate, first hand, the opportunities and challenges facing PV technologies and their industry, exploring best practices and pitfalls for their integration into energy systems, for the markets, and for policy-makers alike.

CEO-level speakers and representatives from banks, investment funds, insurance companies and analysts will explore with you how the finance world sees the PV industry.

Policy-makers from all corners, including the Chief Scientific Adviser to the President of the European Commission, will outline their approach to widespread deployment of PV. They will offer first insights and new ideas on how to create a virtuous circle between PV entrepreneurs, the electricity network business and their industry regulators.

What is a fair price for PV energy? How is the latest PV architecture interacting with our buildings and landscapes in both urban and non-urban environments? How are new production processes helping reduce costs and increase performance? Who are the global PV innovators? These are just some of the questions to be addressed.

Delegates will be a short walk 'into the future' where 670 global producers will compete to demonstrate and launch their latest products. Profiting from this, the media programme will include a guided Expo tour with select scientists. Small group networking dinners/lunches with key organisers, VIP speakers and media are also foreseen, while all interview requests will be facilitated.
